Rare Book Fair Stuttgart open virtually February 18 to 22

The virtual fair runs from February 18th to the 22nd, with the electronic version of the printed catalog available for download starting February 3rd.

Every year, German and international rare bookshops and galleries present valuable books, prints, autographs, maps and illustrated works at the Stuttgart Rare Book Fair. The fair has provided a platform for not only the German rare book trade but also international exhibitors since 1962. It showcases Germany's long history of printing and publishing as well as the book trade. All exhibitors are members of the German Antiquarian Booksellers' Association, Verband Deutscher Antiquare (VDA) or affiliated to the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

This year’s fair will once again take place in form of a printed catalog combined with a virtual fair due to the ongoing pandemic and COVID-restrictions in Germany. Seventy-three rare bookshops and galleries from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, England and the United States will be presenting material from the entire range of the rare book trade.

"For the German Antiquarian Booksellers Association, VDA, it is of great importance to continue with the fair even in these challenging times and thus to maintain continuity. We were able to extensively test and further develop digital possibilities for a virtual fair in 2021 and can now use this proven technology once again. Our special thanks go to our many customers and the collectors who have remained loyal to us despite the adversities of the past months. We are looking forward to a significant fair catalogue, an exciting events programme ahead of the fair and a successful virtual fair in 2022. For 2023, we hereby hopefully invite you to the 60th Antiquarian Book Fair in the city of Stuttgart." Sibylle Wieduwilt, Chairwoman of the Board of the German Antiquarian Booksellers Association, VDA.

An electronic version of the fair catalog, an important component of the Stuttgart fair each year, will be available beginning on February 3rd, 2022, at 12 noon German time under at this URL: https://www.antiquariatsmesse-stuttgart.de/en/catalogue/catalogue-as-pdf
If you wish to order a printed catalog, please contact the VDA Office at: buch@antiquare.de

The virtual fair will go live on Friday, February 18th at 12 noon German time, the normal opening time for the fair, at the following URL: www.antiquariatsmesse-stuttgart.de, and the fair ends on Wednesday, February 22nd at midnight.

The platform allows exhibitors to upload up to 20 items with up to 10 images per item. Customers can move virtually from stand to stand, search by author, subject or use the full text search function.

Sold items will be replaced by new stock throughout the fair.

For detailed information and to buy, customers will then contact the booksellers directly by using the contact details provided.

Germany welcomes all bibliophiles, book collectors and international trade to its annual key event!
