Autographs and Signed Documents from David Schulson
Aviator Charles Lindbergh at the height of his popularity.
Napoleon had reason to be concerned when he wrote this letter to the Duke of Feltre, one of his top military leaders. "Do write the King of Spain and to General Reille that while they are doing nothing, Navarre and Biscayne are being threatened," pens the Emperor. The date was February 27, 1813, and Napoleon could ill afford any problems to the rear as he would begin his invasion of Russia and the ultimate defeat it wrought later that year. He signed the letter "Nap." Item 66. $2,450.
Item 3 is a photograph of Charles Lindbergh at the height of his popularity. It shows him in his aviator helmet, looking off into the distance. It is signed and dated from January 1930. Lindbergh had made his famed first airplane crossing of the Atlantic in 1927, an achievement that made him a national hero. He would become more a figure of a victim later when his baby was kidnapped and murdered, and most of his good will evaporated in the Second World War, as he had been an isolationist, and some believe Nazi sympathizer, in the days leading up to that conflagration. $3,250.
