Where do jazz musicians draw their influences? We can't reach any general conclusions, but we can answer specifically for Dave Brubeck. Brubeck is the noted jazz pianist who also made his way into pop consciousness in the 1960s, particularly after recording the classic Take Five. Item 15 is a letter from Brubeck in which he recounts, "The first recording I ever purchased was an unforgettable event in my life." That recording came from the legendary jazz pianist Fats Waller. "Fats was my very first influence and to this day his spirit is vital to my approach to jazz." $300.

Giacomo Puccini is one of the most popular opera composers, with titles such as Madame Butterfly and La Boheme to his credit. Item 103 is a signed postcard photograph of Puccini, dated 1920. Puccini looks quite dignified in his pose, as befitting a composer of operas, and very youthful for a man of 62, though we suspect this photograph was taken earlier. $1,250.
