Description PBA (Pacific Book Auction) Galleries was formed in San Francisco, California, in 1992, by former employees of the defunct California Book Auction Galleries. It was purchased by Roger Wagner, a software entrepreneur, book collector, and PBA customer, in 2001. The firm focuses on the auction of rare books, manuscripts, autographs, maps, atlases, prints and photographs. Sources are usually collectors, estates, and book scouts. PBA has regularly conducted around 25 auctions per year. It describes itself as the largest specialty auction house in the United States, and that specialty is books and related works on paper.
