West, Hatton Garden, 32pp.publisher's catalogue dated June 1859 at end (Freeman's variant 3), annotations in pencil throughout, pp.129-34 lightly soiled, short repaired tear to title and first contents f. foot of inner margin, ink stamp to lower pastedown, ink ownership inscription of Thomas Hunter to title, blind-stamp and ownership label of John Graham Kerr to front free endpaper and half-title, hinges a little cracked but firm, original green blind-stamped cloth by Edmonds & Remnants with their ticket on lower pastedown, uncut, gilt spine, spine slightly darkened, corners and spine ends a little bumped, but overall an excellent copy, preserved in custom morocco-backed drop-back box, [Freeman 373, variant 'a' binding; GM 220; PMM 344b], 8vo in 12s, 1859.Sir John Graham Kerr (1869-1957), zoologist and Scottish member or parliament. Kerr was onboard the 1889 expedition to survey the Pilcomayo river, during which he discovered and documented numerous species. He published extensively on zoology and evolution.
