Lot Note
|
A rare and important wall-map of Amsterdam, depicting the city from a bird's-eye viewpoint, published in 1625 (the engraved date in the imprint and celebratory text), re-issued sometime in the 1630s, with the date in the running title unfortunately lacking the final digit. Two insets contain a map of the immediate environs of Amsterdam, and a prospect of the city from across the Tya, with allegorical figures emphasising Amsterdam's important political and naval power, its wealth and cultural eminence.
