David Hockney (b. 1937) Illustrations for Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm (S.A.C. 70-108; Tokyo 67-105) the complete portfolio of 39 etchings, some with aquatint, 1969-70, on Hodgkinson handmade wove paper, with title, text, table of contents and justification, with the additional suite of 39 etchings, the justification signed in pencil, inscribed 'portfolio' and numbered 61/100 (there were also fifteen artist's proofs and a total book edition of 460 copies), each tale bound separately as a concertina fold and signed and numbered in pencil on the title page, the suite loose (as issued), printed on sheets of various sizes, each signed in pencil, numbered 61/100 and inscribed Grimm portfolio in pen and sepia ink on the reverse, the full sheets, all in excellent condition, within the original dark blue calf portfolio box with title, artist and publisher's name on the inside cover, in very good condition (portfolio) 650 x 480 mm.
