[&] A Booke of Planting Hopps [&] A Booke of warrefare most necessary for the trayninge up of younge souldiers, manuscript in several hands (mostly in 1 hand), c. 500pp., some calligraphic and floral decoration at beginning of each book, ruled in red throughout, Royal Coat of Arms watermark, 3ff. torn and 2ff. repaired, numerous ff. excised, slightly browned, 18th century crude pen and ink drawing of Chaucer's head with Caxton's imprint and other pen and ink drawings of seals in the margins of first title and on 3 blank ff., fly-leaf laid down, eighteenth century ink signature of Thomas Garfit on fly-leaf, new free endpaper, hinges weak and splitting, original calf, slightly rubbed, corners and some edges bumped, upper cover detached, rebacked in 19th century calf, rubbed, 4to, [seventeenth century].
