Glazunov, 1838-1841. 11 volumes, 8A (229 x 140mm). With all half-titles. Engraved portrait, and a leaf reproducing Pushkin's handwriting. (Occasional light spotting, occasional even browning, gathering 23 in vol. 9 trimmed in the bottom margin.) Contemporary green morocco, flat spines gilt, sides gilt with wide scrolling foliate and floral border, upper side centred with the crowned cypher A.N., except vol. 7 with the cypher of Alexander's brother Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich, moirA silk endpapers, gilt edges (front hinge of vol. I split, lower joint of vol. X starting at the head, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Alexander II of Russia (binding; stamp and shelf marks of the Tsarskoe Selo Palace Library). ALEXANDER II'S COPY IN SUPERB CONTEMPORARY GREEN MOROCCO, from the palace library at Tsarskoe Selo; a remarkable example of the first collected edition of Pushkin's works, which includes work not published in the poet's lifetime. The first 8 volumes were planned and edited by his friend V.A. Zhukovskii and the last three were published by subscription by Il'ia Glazunov; the first of these, volume 9, bearing the publisher's signature certifying that it is copy no.60.
