The AED, our database, is the key to understanding the importance of printed material. Is an item even in the database? If yes, what has been said about it? If not in the database, why not? Have I found a gem? The AED helps the collector, the researcher and dealer to quickly understand material.
Database - What¡¦s there? Information on more than 90,000 titles are found in 400,000+ full text records from more than 130 sources. Extensive as these records are, they are continuously increasing. Every month we add tens of thousands of new records. Sixty percent of these records are priced. Forty percent are bibliographical. Research Membership for the Database costs only just $10.00 a month.
Why do I want to know what is selling in London? Because, over time and with experience you’ll develop a perspective on what interesting and sometimes important material is worth. And of course everyone loves a bargain!
Auction Results: - After hammer, auction results are posted on our site and will be kept up to 6 month. A color coded table makes it easy picture to understand how the sale went. A very important feature helps our subscribers to understand today¡¦s market.
MatchMakerTM(1) Self-Defined Search Terms for Automatic Evaluation of Upcoming Auction Material - Every business day there is a book auction somewhere in the world. We follow virtually all book auctions and include, effective September 1st, 2003, include more than 85% of book lots in our day to day analysis of what¡¦s coming up for sale. Over the past year (September 2002 to August 2003) we have covered only the 35% of auction lots that fit loosely within the description of Americana. Effective September 1st most fiction including science fiction, mystery, poetry, drama and children¡¦s books, whether European or American, virtually all Americana and many non-fiction collecting specialties are covered including science & medicine, maps & geography, art & architecture, bibliography and sports of all kinds. And now we are providing a KEYWORD system that permits and encourages members to use personally selected terms to search upcoming auction lots for material of interest. One collector may seek ¡§poetry¡¨ simply using this single word to see every relating lot that contains this word. Another collector may collect ¡§Dickens¡¨ and yet another material relating to ¡§St. Louis¡§. As some collecting strategies, like St. Louis, may require more search terms we provide 35 personally selected terms with the Octavo level subscription and up to 200 with a Folio level subscription for those who pursue more broad and complex materials. These KEYWORDS trigger matches in upcoming auction descriptions that are immediately sent to members for their consideration. You won¡¦t miss any interesting material again!
MatchMakerTM(2) Selecting AED Records to be Matched Against the Internet and Upcoming Auctions - The AED, our database, offers an extraordinary array of materials that can be sorted by KEYWORD(s) as well as Primary & Advanced searches for increasingly complex search strategies. A KEYWORD search of ¡§NEVADA¡¨ will yield more than 1,800 matches. Members can select from among such material, and using other related KEYWORDS (Reno, Elkin, Las Vegas, etc) build a complex list of materials to potentially examine via libraries or purchase via the internet, auctions and dealers. We provide a minimum of 500 titles or records (a record uses title, author, place and date printed) so that members have sufficient scale to always be sure they will find consistent matches. Up to 2,000 titles can potentially be selected from the AED for building a personal wants list. Material not yet in our database can also be separately added by members for their personal use. Each day member wants lists are compared to listings both on the net and at all book auctions. And of course, at auction there are also KEYWORDS to make the process even more interesting.
