The Americana Exchange is a web-based resource for those who deal in, deal with and/or collect books and related material. To build a community we provide free services. To support this collecting field we provide innovative paid tools that are changing the face of book collecting. Our primary free community building tools are AE Monthly, the most widely read periodical in the book collecting field, and Auction Search, the most effective search tool ever developed for the book auction field. The heart of our paid services on this site is the Americana Exchange Bibliographic Database, over a million records pertaining to fiction and non-fiction books, maps and ephemera including drama and poetry, science and medicine, angling, sports materials, binding, private press and a wide assortment of other printed items. It is extensive and it is easily sorted by KEYWORD and ADVANCED searches. There are extensive bibliographic records for the bibliophile but the emphasis is on priced records that contain information of significance. Recently, we have added a price-estimating tool that allows you to convert older prices to current values.
For the innovators within libraries and among collectors and dealers we offer Premium subscriptions that make it possible to electronically footnote scholarly and selling descriptions, create automated wants lists and identify matching material at auction, on ABE and on eBay. Our web catalogue makes it possible to issue complex electronic presentations on AE or linked to dealer websites and library collections. A Premium subscription is a ticket to the big dance.
