- By Michael Stillman
New catalogues under review.
For October, we have 12 new catalogues to review. The first catalogue issued by Extant Americana of New York features rare, often unique items relating to America's past. The William Reese Company also has a collection of Americana, as they present Part II of a catalogue of material featured in Wright Howes' Usiana. Plaza Books, on the other hand, focuses on the other side of the border, with items pertaining to Mexico.
Sotheran's offers a selection of works from the library of Percy Whiting Brown, of Concord, Massachusetts. Restoration Books presents material from the library of Robert Denny Watt, great-grandson of the founder of Seattle, Washington. Gene Baade Books on the West features American western wear with a side offering of 16th and 17th century Lutheran texts in Latin and German. That's not a combination you see everyday.
Justin Croft Antiquarian Books takes a look back in time through their latest catalogue. Helen Kahn and Associates features voyages and travel all over the world. Gert Jan Bestebreurtje Rare Books presents maps and prints. The Raab Collection offers 23 “historical treasures.” Marc Selvaggio Books and Ephemera has a collection of over 500 rare ephemeral pieces. Aleph-Bet Books offers a new selection of 600 children's and illustrated books.
